Adolescent Sexual Health Awareness

Wesleyan University's Sexual Health Education Group

ASHA works to provide young people with the resources and knowledge they need to make their own informed, sexual decisions. We empower young people to be active participants in their sexual education and to take charge of their bodies, as well as their emotional and physical health.

ASHA leads interactive workshops, taught by Wesleyan students, at local high schools and within Wesleyan’s community that cover STI’s, safer sex practices, sexual assault prevention, communication, consent, pleasure, and other sexual health issues. ASHA is committed to holding events, creating content, working with other Wesleyan organizations, and bringing speakers to campus that all deal with sexual health in creative and challenging ways.

High School Workshops

ASHA members are trained to lead comprehensive sexual health workshops for local Connecticut high schoolers. We partner with schools to educate their students about STI prevention, contraception, bystander intervention, and communication.

On Campus Presence

ASHA has expanded its on campus presence because we believe it is necessary for sex education to be a continuous process, even after high school. Our members lead sexual health workshops for student groups, host panels on topics relating to sex, sexuality, and gender, and bring speakers to campus.

Hello!! I'm a co-coordinator of ASHA and major in Science in Society and Psychology. I have been working with ASHA since her freshman year. In my time with ASHA, I've worked to facilitate various creative outlets for grappling with sexual health and identity.  Most importantly, I am excited by the idea that crushes are inherently anti-capitalist!
